Genetically modified food production increased to 100 million acres from around 7 million acres between 1996 and 1999. Most of this increase occurred in the United States.

Genetically modified foods are becoming more and more prevalent... The question is though, are genetically modified foods, as some say, harmful in regards to safety, ecology and economics? Or, as others say, the answer to the problems of population growth and devalued food quality?
